Judging Process
AWARD JUDGING
The judging of the Algoma Visionary Awards (AVA) is a meticulous process, reflecting the commitment of the Strive Young Professionals Group to uphold fairness, transparency, and excellence. Our Judging Committee is composed of members from the Strive and Chamber community, as well as past award recipients, bringing together individuals with exceptional integrity and expertise across diverse sectors. One staff member is involved solely for facilitation purposes, ensuring the process runs smoothly.
This year, with over 500 nominations and more than 100 expected submissions, the judging process is more crucial than ever in recognizing the incredible talent and achievements in our region.
To ensure impartiality, nominee submissions are carefully matched with judges whose backgrounds and expertise align with the award categories. Any conflicts of interest are managed by reassigning the judging of that category to another committee member.
Key Dates for Judges:
- December 10th: Deadline to confirm judges.
- December 15th: Nomination packages are finalized and submitted.
- December 15-16th: Judges receive their packages, including detailed guidelines and scoring criteria.
- December 18th: Final judging meeting to discuss scores and finalize award recipients.
Submissions are assessed using a structured numeric scoring process, with judges evaluating nominees based on their ability to meet or exceed the specific award criteria. The recipient of each award is determined by the nominee with the highest combined average score across all judges.
We take great pride in this rigorous process, ensuring the Algoma Visionary Awards honor the most deserving individuals and businesses in our community.
