Welcome to the Algoma Visionary Awards (AVA's) Page – Celebrating Excellence and Leadership in Our Community!

The Algoma Visionary Awards Gala is the pinnacle event in our calendar, a cherished occasion dedicated to honouring the outstanding contributions and achievements of young leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, volunteers, and mentors throughout the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma region.

At AVA's, we proudly spotlight 16 remarkable young professionals who exemplify excellence in leadership, community engagement, professional achievement, volunteerism, and mentorship. These individuals are the driving force behind positive change and innovation in our community, inspiring others through their dedication, passion, and vision.

Our award categories encompass both the Awards of Distinction, recognizing overall excellence and outstanding contributions, and Industry Awards, highlighting achievements within specific sectors.

Algoma Visionary Awards (AVA) Nomination Rules

  1. Eligibility:
    • Nominees must be young professionals (aged 40 or under) residing in the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma region.
    • IMPORTANT: If a nominee won a Strive Award last year, they are not eligible for a nomination this year. This rule encourages more applicants and gives others a chance to be recognized. Previous winners may be eligible again after a one-year gap.
    • The applicant must be a member in good standing of Strive YPG as of December 31 of the previous year and must remain in good standing on the night of the Algoma Visionary Awards to be eligible to receive an award.
    • All project entries must be active between January 1 and December 31 of the previous year.
    • Projects must be located within the local Algoma region.
  2. Nominations:
    • Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged.
    • Nominees may be nominated in more than one category. However, they can only accept a maximum of one Industry Award and one Award of Distinction.
    • Nominations must be submitted via the official AVA submission form by the stated deadline. Late entries will not be accepted.
  3. Submission Guidelines:
    • Submissions must be complete. Strive YPG reserves the right to disqualify incomplete submissions without notice.
    • Each submission must include a detailed description of the nominee's contributions, impact on the community, and relevant supporting materials (such as testimonials or project documentation).
    • All submissions will be reviewed, and acceptance is at the discretion of Strive YPG.
  4. Category Assignment:
    • Strive YPG reserves the right to realign categories based on the volume of entries. Entrants will be notified of any realignment.
    • If a category receives fewer than four entries, Strive YPG reserves the right to eliminate the category. Entrants in the cancelled category will receive a refund of their entry fee.
  5. Selection Process:
    • A selection committee will review all submissions and evaluate based on predefined criteria.
    • Finalists will be notified prior to the awards gala.
    • The committee's decisions are final, and no appeals will be considered.
  6. Terms and Conditions:
    • All nominees and nominators agree to be bound by these rules and any decisions made by the selection committee.
    • Nominees agree to participate in promotional activities related to the Algoma Visionary Awards, including media interviews and event participation.
